Newfoundland and Labrador - a rare find

Labour Standards

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Labour Standards Division works with employees and employers to support and foster positive employment relations throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The Division provides programs and services to non-unionized employees and employers.

The Labour Standards Division administers provincial labour standards legislation, which establishes minimum terms and conditions of employment. These minimum standards include such matters as the minimum wage, hours of work, paid public holidays, and various other terms of employment.

The Labour Standards Division provides numerous services to the public, including the investigation and enforcement of these provincial labour standards, and the provision of public education and outreach supports to help increase stakeholder awareness.
